Miss Universe National Costume 2009

THE designer of Rachael Finch's all-important national costume has been unveiled. Perth designer Ruth Tarvydas has been chosen to create the costume, which Rachael will wear on stage at the Miss Universe final in the Bahamas in August. The dress has been dubbed "Sunset Over the Opera House" and was designed to be representative of Australia. It features a silver sequined bodice; a leg-revealing skirt in shades of tangerine, melon and pink; flashes of flesh and a lace-up back. The costume is `sexy, exciting, thrilling and beautiful', Ms Tarvydas said.  A Tarvydas dress can put a girl on the map, a fact that does not seem to have been lost on Finch.
